Some Uncommon Whois Links
My quick 2 cents about domain registering-
Network Solutions and Doteasy - the Nightmare on Elm Street of the
internet. At least I've had more than my share of BS from them. I've also had a lot of grief with the 'cc' tld's such as .mu, etc. They're simply much harder to move around.
GoDaddy.com - the only way to go @ $8.95/yr or less for .com/.org/ or .net. .biz and .info higher. Very easy to use, too !! And they offer an affiliate program as well. A2z-Free.com is not affiliated with GoDaddy. I just happen to like their service very much!
DNSStuff.Com - This site has many DNS and networking tools for network administrators, domain owners, users of hosted DNS services, etc. 20 DNS tools including city from ip, spam database, whois, html validator, ping, traceroute, reverse, more. Free.
Bulk Domain Checker - Here's a great program from Analogx.com. Checks multiple
names at once as well as on multiple
tlds. The number of combinations can
easily get to the outer limits with
this program that you download and run from
your own drive. Want more power? Here y'go. Free.
Special thanks to David Efflandt for this
Reverse IP lookup. Enter an IP Address as xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx and get the site name returned. if you want the script, it's free too!
Another Reverse Ip Lookup - Lookup alone, no access to the script.
Ip Lookup - This IP Locator is a tool for finding the origin country of an IP address and some statistical information about that country.
Knowing the geographical location of an IP address can be very useful in applications like:
- web access statistics per country
- automatic redirection to country specific web sites
- automatic language selection
- building marketing strategies.
Norid.no
- Alphabetical listings of 2-letter cc (country code) tlds (top level domains) with links to search and registration pages where available. Many are not available.
Alphabetical listings by country here, also from Norid.no.
Iana.org - Internet assigned numbers authority. This is from one of their info pages -
Top-Level Domains
There are two types of top-level domains, generic and country code. Generic domains were created for use by the Internet public, while country code domains were created to be used by each individual country as they deemed necessary.
